About Spy Vs Spy
Spy Vs Spy on the NES turns the classic Mad magazine rivalry into a fast, mischievous competitive action game. Released in 1987 by Kemco and developed by First Star Software, it places the black and white spies inside a maze-like series of rooms, where both are searching for the items needed to complete their mission and make a getaway.
The twist is that you are not simply exploring alone. In two-player games, each spy hunts through the same building at the same time, with the action shown in split-screen so both players can keep moving independently. One player may be searching through furniture while the other is already setting up a trap or racing toward an exit. Doors, cabinets, and other objects can hide useful items, but they can also conceal nasty surprises. A poorly chosen hiding place may leave your spy stunned, giving the opponent a valuable opportunity.
Direct clashes are just as important as exploration. The spies can brawl when they meet, turning a careful search into a frantic scramble. Success depends on remembering room layouts, checking likely hiding spots, managing the clock, and anticipating where the other player is heading. The game’s appeal comes from that blend of split-second competition and cartoon slapstick: every trip through a room can become a bluff, ambush, or desperate dash.
Although Spy Vs Spy can be played against the computer, its two-player mode is the real attraction, especially for friends willing to turn every hidden trap into a personal grudge. Its bold black-and-white presentation, compact objectives, and hectic pacing make it an unusual NES experience from the late 1980s. RetroCloud lets you play online on your browser and revisit this memorable battle of cunning, timing, and sabotage.
