About City Connection
City Connection is a colorful arcade-style platform game built around an unusual objective: drive a small car across elevated roads and paint every section of pavement. Released for the NES in 1988, this version was developed by Hect and published by Jaleco, bringing the distinctive road-painting challenge of the arcade original to Nintendo’s home console.
Each stage presents a maze of platforms and ramps arranged above a city backdrop. As the car travels over the roads, the surfaces change color, showing which areas have been covered and which still need attention. Completing the stage is not simply a matter of reaching the end; you must carefully plan routes, make jumps between road sections, and return to overlooked patches while avoiding danger. Police cars patrol the platforms and can bring a run to an abrupt halt, so speed has to be balanced with awareness.
The game’s simple controls make it easy to understand, but the compact layouts become increasingly demanding as hazards and unfinished sections compete for your attention. A missed road segment can force a risky trip back through territory you have already crossed, while a poorly timed jump may leave you vulnerable to pursuing vehicles. The bright visuals, brisk movement, and catchy arcade-style presentation give City Connection a character all its own.
With support for two players, it is a good fit for short competitive or turn-based sessions, even though the core challenge remains focused on clearing stages efficiently. City Connection is an appealing NES curiosity for players who enjoy maze games with a driving twist, and it remains easy to pick up for a quick attempt. You can play online on your browser through RetroCloud and experience its blend of route planning, reflexes, and cheerful 1980s arcade design.
