About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III brings Konami’s fast, colorful arcade-style beat ’em up action to the NES in 1992. Known as The Manhattan Project, it sends Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael into another battle against Shredder and the Foot Clan after Manhattan is placed in danger. The story is straightforward, but it gives the adventure a clear sense of momentum as the Turtles fight their way through streets, beaches, factories, and other hazardous locations.

The game supports up to two players at once, making it especially enjoyable as a cooperative brawler. Each Turtle has a different weapon, attack range, and feel, so choosing a favorite is more than a cosmetic decision. Leonardo offers balanced attacks, Donatello uses his long-reaching bo staff, Michelangelo swings quickly with his nunchaku, and Raphael delivers powerful close-range strikes with his sai. Alongside normal attacks, players can use a limited special move that damages nearby enemies, though it also costs some of the Turtle’s health.

Stages are packed with Foot Soldiers, environmental obstacles, platforming sections, and boss encounters drawn from the familiar TMNT world. The action is simple to pick up, but success depends on controlling crowds, using the right spacing, and saving special attacks for difficult moments. Konami’s bright presentation, responsive controls, and energetic soundtrack give the NES hardware plenty of personality, even when the screen becomes crowded with enemies.

Whether you remember it from childhood or are discovering it for the first time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III is a strong example of the console beat ’em up. RetroCloud lets you play online on your browser and revisit this cooperative NES favorite without needing the original hardware.
